Best time to fly to Bangkok
How shoulder-season timing affects flight choice and journey comfort.
Bangkok is popular both as a destination in its own right and as a stopover city, thanks to its food scene and onward transit links across Southeast Asia. When you fly matters almost as much as where you fly, since it shapes how comfortable the city is to walk around once you land.
The cooler, drier months from roughly November to February are generally the most comfortable for sightseeing on foot — expect warm days but without the heaviest humidity. March through May tends to be the hottest stretch of the year, and the wet season runs from around June to October, with afternoon downpours that are usually short but frequent.
None of this needs to rule out a trip outside the cooler months — flights are often easier to find and less crowded in the shoulder and wet seasons, and Bangkok's indoor markets, malls, and transit system make the heat and rain easy to work around. It's a trade-off between comfort and convenience, not a hard rule.
If you're connecting through Bangkok rather than stopping over, layover length matters more than season — check how much time you actually have before deciding whether to leave the airport.
